Community problems overwhelming in size and
complexity can sometimes be divided into manageable tasks. The tasks
are tackled one at a time, until enough progress is made to create a
sense of accomplishment and empowerment.
Combat missions are focused interventions against
ugliness, danger, and despair in our community. They can be
undertaken by anyone--a community association, a church group, a
sports team, a group of young people, or neighbors who want to make
things better.
The Collaborative works with District Attorney Jewel
C. Scott to link community needs with citizens convicted of
misdemeanors who have been
assigned community service.
In addition, the Collaborative supports supervised teams of youth
who work intensively for one hour to combat a specific neighborhood
environment problem (e.g., trash, weeds, unkempt lot, need for
paint, graffiti) identified by
citizens in the Clayton County community.
