Originally funded by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, the Grassroots Leadership Institute is scheduled each year for twelve weeks between August and November. Due to the generosity of community supporters, the Institute is free but interested citizens must apply since limited space is available. Applications may be submitted any time during the year.

Benefits to participants include:

• preparation for a more informed and active role in the affairs of Clayton County.

• an opportunity to develop team-building, leadership, personal and interpersonal skills.
   

• the exchange of ideas with a diverse group of people responsible
   

• problem solving today and planning for the future in a wide range of endeavors.
   

• an opportunity to pursue a community project as a leadership team

Each of the twelve weekly sessions is three hours long, and attendance at all sessions in their entirety is expected. Upon graduation, participants are provided opportunities to continue interacting with alumni members through educational programs, community service projects, advanced leadership training, and cultural activities.
